Treatment of Stable Keratoconus by Cataract Surgery with Toric IOL Implantation

چکیده
We present the case of a 73-year-old patient who underwent successful phacoemulsification and toric intraocular lens (IOL) implantation to correct high stable astigmatism due to keratoconus and cataract. Preoperative refraction was –3.25 – 4.0 × 98°. A toric IOL (Acrysof SN60T6) with a spherical power of 16.5 D and a cylinder power of 3.75 D at the IOL plane and 2.57 D at the corneal plane was implanted and aligned at an axis of 0°. Uncorrected visual acuity improved from 6/60 to 6/10. Postoperative best corrected visual acuity was 6/6, 6 months after the operation. In conclusion, phacoemulsification with toric IOL implantation can be performed in eyes with keratoconus and cataract.

Toric Intraocular Lens Implantation for Correction of Astigmatism in Cataract Patients with Corneal Ectasia
Our purpose was to examine the long-term efficacy of toric intraocular lens (IOL) implantation in cataract patients with high astigmatism due to corneal ectasia, who underwent phacoemulsification cataract surgery. Five eyes of 3 cataract patients with topographically stable keratoconus or pellucid macular degeneration (PMD), in which phacoemulsification with toric IOL implantation was used to c...
متن کاملCorrection of irregular and induced regular corneal astigmatism with toric IOL after posterior segment surgery: a case series
BACKGROUND Toric intraocular lens (IOL) implantation can be an effective method for correcting corneal astigmatism in patients with vitreoretinal diseases and cataract. Our purpose is to report the outcome of toric IOL implantation in two cases - a patient with scleral-buckle-induced regular corneal astigmatism and a patient with keratoconus following pars plana vitrectomy. As far as we are awa...
متن کاملToric intraocular lenses for correction of astigmatism in keratoconus and after corneal surgery
PURPOSE To describe the results of cataract extraction with toric intraocular lens (IOL) implantation in patients with preexisting astigmatism from three corneal conditions (keratoconus, postkeratoplasty, and postpterygium surgery). METHODS Cataract patients with topographically stable, fairly regular (although sometimes very high) corneal astigmatism underwent phacoemulsification with implan...

PURPOSE To evaluate the effectiveness of toric intraocular lens (IOL) implantation combined with limbal relaxing incision (LRI) for patients with high-amplitude astigmatism. METHODS This single-center, prospective study evaluated 22 eyes of 19 patients with cataract and >2.50 diopters (D) astigmatism that underwent bimanual micro-phacoemulsification cataract surgery and toric IOL implantation...
